The Story Behind Parker Tree
George ‘Brownie’ Parker founded Parker Tree Service in 1937, in Bakersfield, California. At that time, the business lacked modern equipment like boom trucks, relying instead on strong ropes and expert knot-tying skills.
Brownie’s four sons, Joe, Jesse, Mike, and George, all took up tree-climbing, helping to build the family business’s reputation for reliability, fairness, and a strong work ethic.
In 1978, the Parkers relocated to La Grande, Oregon, with Jesse Parker still running the Oregon branch today. Meanwhile, Joe and his family moved to Idaho.
Justin, Joe’s son, inspired by childhood memories of climbing trees with his father and grandfather, represents the third generation of Parker tree climbers and currently manages the business in the Treasure Valley.
Brownie Parker climbed his last tree at the age of 78. Over the past seventy years, many things have changed, but the Parkers’ commitment to their foundational values has remained steady. The Parker family appreciates its many customers and looks forward to serving them for many more years.
