The business begins
George “Brownie” Parker starts Parker Tree Service in Bakersfield and establishes the family’s hands-on approach to professional tree work.
Since 1937, Parker Tree Service has grown from one climber with strong ropes and expert knots into a family-owned Idaho tree care company with modern equipment, experienced crews and ISA Certified Arborists.
Parker Tree Service began in Bakersfield, California, when George “Brownie” Parker turned tree climbing into a family trade.
Tree work looked very different then. Without boom trucks and today’s diagnostic tools, the work depended on climbing ability, strong ropes, expert knot tying and experience in the canopy. Brownie’s sons, Joe, Jesse, Mike and George, followed him into the trees and helped build a reputation for reliability, fairness and hard work.
The places and equipment changed. The commitment to quality work and personal relationships did not.

The Parkers relocate to La Grande, Oregon. Jesse continues the Oregon branch, while Joe Parker and his family later bring the tradition to Idaho.
Joe’s son Justin, who grew up climbing with his father and grandfather, now manages Parker Tree Service throughout Boise and the Treasure Valley.
Brownie continued climbing well into his later years and climbed his final tree at age 78. That dedication became part of the family story Parker Tree Service carries forward today.
Today’s work is supported by modern equipment, arboricultural knowledge, diagnostic tools and evolving safety practices. Parker Tree Service serves homes, businesses and communities across the Treasure Valley.
Our team handles removal, trimming and pruning, stump grinding, diagnostics, plant healthcare, fertilization, commercial tree services and emergency tree care, with ISA Certified Arborists helping customers make informed decisions.
